📜 Shonar Bangla Circus - ডুবুরী Song lyrics in Bengali

📜 English Translation – The Diver

VERSE 1: Sinking deep within myself And if I rise no more Who will come as a diver To rescue not me, but my heart? Who was it, what was it That dream which crept into my sleep? But when I awoke, it vanished Once here, now lost to the light CHORUS 1: The farther I wander The closer I return to my own self In journeying far away from you Yet, I found you within me VERSE 2: What is it I search for, sinking? Only to lose you in the quest Like the sun that fades away Into the twilight of the evening star To the one I lost everything to Why do I return seeking them again! The fault of losing my heart is mine alone Yet, I find myself drawn back to the heartless CHORUS 2: The farther I wander The closer I return to my own self In journeying far away from you Yet, I found you within me VERSE 3: This journey of mine, without a heart Now is the time to return to the heart Diving deep within myself I found you again The number of times I've sought love Had I sought death just as much Death would have fled into the heart of a bird And you would have been the immortal spring CHORUS 3: The farther I wander The closer I return to my own self In journeying far away from you Yet, I found you within me

🔍 Behind The Lyrics & Meaning

(The Diver) is a song about diving inward rather than outward. The opening lines — "ডুবে যাই নিজের ভেতর, ভেসে যদি না উঠি আর" — set up the central image: sinking into yourself so deep that you might not surface. And the question that follows is devastating — who will come as a diver to rescue not you, but your heart?

The dream in Verse 1 is fleeting — "কে ছিলো সে, কি ছিলো সে, স্বপ্ন যেনো আসে ঘুমের ভেতর?" Then waking reveals absence: "ঘুম ভেঙ্গে দেখি নেই সে আর, ছিলো আলোয় হলো পর." Someone who was once light has become a stranger.

The chorus carries the song's philosophical core: "যতদূরে চলে যাই, তত ফিরি নিজের কাছে / তোমার থেকে দূরে গিয়ে, পেয়ে গেলাম তোমাকে." The farther you run, the closer you return to yourself — and in running away from someone, you end up finding them within you. This is the paradox of love and selfhood.

Verse 2 deepens the loss: searching for something, you lose the person you were seeking. The sun fades into the evening star. Then the self-accusation: "হৃদয় হারানোর দোষ যে আমার, হৃদয়হীনের কাছে ফেরায়" — the fault of losing my heart is mine alone, yet I keep returning to the heartless one.

Verse 3 is the turn — the moment of reckoning: "হৃদয়হীন এ যাত্রা আমার, সময় এখন হৃদয়ে ফেরার." The heartless journey must end; it's time to return to the heart. And in diving deep within himself, he finds her again. The most striking couplet: "প্রেমের খোঁজে এসেছি যতবার, মৃত্যুর খোঁজে যদি আসতাম ততবার / পাখির হৃদয়ে পালাতো মৃত্যু, তুমি হতে অমৃত সরোবর." Had he sought death as often as he sought love, death would have fled into a bird's heart — because she would have been the immortal spring.

💡 Gaanerbol Thoughts

Shonar Bangla Circus has crafted a genuinely progressive piece here — one that earns its six-minute-plus runtime (if the album version runs that long) through patient structure rather than repetition. Saad Chowdhury's synth and strings arrangement, Seth Panduranga Blumberg's electric guitars, and guest violinist Simon Kierspel's contributions give the track a rich, layered texture. The Dubki percussion by Sohel Khan anchors it in something earthy, while Probar Ripon's lyrics reach for the metaphysical.

Album Mohashoshan continues to establish SBC as one of the most ambitious acts in contemporary Bengali progressive rock. ডুবুরী is the kind of song that rewards repeated listens — because like the diver, you keep discovering something new the deeper you go.
